1 Holetown Festival – February

The Holetown Festival is based in Holetown, Barbados, to commemorate the date, February 17, 1627- the arrival of the first English settlers. Every year, in the middle of February, a week-long festival is held and features various events highlighting Barbados’ culture and traditions. Events include street parades, markets, folk singing and dance, sports, and food vendors serving traditional Barbadian fare.

The Barbados Reggae Festival debuted in 2005 at Farley Hill National Park and has since developed into an annual highlight as a four-event festival. This event, which features live performances from the biggest reggae acts from the local, regional, and international scene, has become a fixture on the calendars of reggae aficionados’ throughout the Caribbean and abroad.

3 Crop Over – June to August

Crop Over, one of the most thrilling festivals in the Caribbean, is held in Barbados. This festival, which lasts for three months, honours Barbadian music, art, cuisine, and culture. 

Celebrations for this Barbados Festival can begin as early as May. It starts with the Ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes, a custom that dates back more than 200 years. It signals the end of another fruitful sugar cane harvest. 

The Grand Kadooment Day conclusion of Crop Over is its main attraction. Thousands of costumes worn by masqueraders decorated with sequins, vibrant feathers, jewels, and vivid accents will be on display. All of which will depict themes related to historical and contemporary Barbados. Music trucks and moving bars accompany masqueraders. 

This must-attend Caribbean celebration includes regional customs, spectacular costumes, excellent cuisine, and contagious music.

4 Gospel Fest – September

The Barbados Gospelfest events are recognized as the most important Caribbean spiritual music concerts of their kind. Some of the best gospel musicians from North America and the Caribbean come together for this religious music festival. 

The festival’s popularity is primarily a result of the participation of well-known international performers like Dr Bobby Jones and Jeff White. This event features a wide variety of music, including reggae, calypso, jazz, and soul.

5 Barbados Food and Rum Festival – October
